And The Braves Push On
Posted on September 1, 2010 · Leave a CommentWith 28 games left in the season the chances of the Braves making the playoffs and possibly the World Series are getting better everyday. After returning from a tough road trip where we went 2-4 (including a sweep by the Colorado Rockies), we’ve returned home and returned to our winning ways. We’re 4-1 on our current homestand improving our Major League best home record to 48-18! Going into tonight’s game against the New York Mets we’re 3 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies who are out in L.A. taking on a now Manny-less Dodgers team.
So, as we [hopefully] venture into the postseason in Bobby Cox’s last season we need to get behind the Bravos in this last month. If you’re with me in supporting the Braves in what’s left of the season then have I got a surprise for you. Two-for-One tickets! There are about seven home games left this season were you can get 2-for-1 tickets at Turner Field.
- On Two-For-One Mondays you can get Two Golden Moon Casino Pavilion tickets for the price of one. Two tickets for $28.
- On Two-For-One Tuesdays you can get Two Upper Reserved tickets for the price of one. Two tickets for $8.
- On Two-For-One Wednesdays you can get Two Field/Terrace Pavilion tickets for the price of one every Wednesday. Two tickets for $24. You can go tonight!
Those are amazing deals! So, let’s get everyone together at Kendall Creek and catch a two for as we root our Braves on into the playoffs!
It SOUNDS Like A Good Weekend
Posted on August 27, 2010 · Leave a CommentThere’s always something going on in and around Atlanta and that’s exactly why I live here! I’m originally from Mississippi and the only thing you can do there is go to the coast and gamble. I also lived in Omaha, NE where the corn grows and college baseball goes to crown a champion. And that’s it. So, living in Atlanta is like living in a dream; you always have something to do!
This weekend is a great weekend for food as you can tell in my previous post as well as music. There are a few local bands performing as well as a few from other parts of the country. But overall, a great music weekend. Check out this weekend’s line up:
- Train will be performing tonight at Chastain Park Amphitheatre at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are going for anywhere between $19 and $49. You’ll recognize such hits as “Drops of Jupiter” and most recently “Hey, Soul Sister.”
- Oryx and Crake–this Atlanta band is celebrating the release of their self-titled debut album with a show at The Earl in East Atlanta. They’ll be playing on Saturday, August 28th, around 9:00 p.m. for everyone that wants something a little different. Take a listen at their website and grab your $7 tickets!
- One half of Outkast, Big Boi will be playing at Verizon Amphitheatre in Alpharetta along with another Atlanta area band Sound Tribe Sector Nine (STS9). They will be starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and tickets are going for $25-$40.
It SOUNDS like a good weekend, huh? Check out one of these awesome performers, Kendall Creek, and be sure to come back and tell us how it was!

Who’s Ready to (Food) Rave?
Posted on August 25, 2010 · Leave a CommentDon’t you just love when you visit a website and it’s complete with music that you can’t turn off? Well, that’s what happened when I went to The Atlanta Food Rave website, but I wasn’t too bothered with it because (1) it only played a 30 second snippet and didn’t loop the song and (2) it was a good song! With that being said, I decided to stay and browse the site and luckily I did because I found an awesome event that I will be attending this Friday, August 27th.
According to their website, The Atlanta Food Rave “is a collection of the hottest chefs from all over the city coming together for a night of food, fun and live entertainment.” Sounds delightful already! Five of Atlanta’s hottest chefs will meet this Friday at Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery off of Armour Drive to offer guests a sample of their cuisine that has made them hotter than the city itself. The menu is secret until Friday and guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite chef to win the 2010 Rave Review. The five chefs who will appear this year are:
- Alex Friedman of P’cheen
- Delroy Bowen of Proof of the Pudding
- Keira Moritz of Pacci Ristorante
- Lance Gummere of The Shed at Glenwood
- Latoya Starks of Noorish Catering
Tickets are just $55 in advance for this lovely evening in Atlanta though none will be sold at the door. You must be 21 to attend this Rave and get this, portion of the proceeds will go to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Kendall Creek, will any of you make the drive Downtown this Friday? It’s not that far, just half an hour! It’ll be worth it.

Feeling A Little Folky?
Posted on August 17, 2010 · Leave a CommentWho’s ready for a little art this weekend? It’s not your traditional or contemporary art that you find in galleries in Downtown Atlanta, but something a little more “folky.” And it’s for good reason, the 17th Annual Folk Fest is taking place this weekend at the North Atlanta Trade Center!
You’ll find the best self-taught artists in the nation and possibly the world this weekend, so if you’re looking for that specific piece of art for the living room you might just find it here. In fact, there will be 100 exhibitors on hand with a seemingly innumerous amount of artwork for sale including pottery and antique art. The Georgia Fireflies will also be on hand Friday, August 20th performing a few of their most recent hits. It looks to be a good, folk time!
The Fest begins Friday, August 20 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is just $15 which includes a t-shirt and weekend readmission (the best bang for your buck!). The Meet-The-Artists Party will also take place on Friday, so I definitely advise you stop in! The celebration of art will continue Saturday, August 21 from 10 a. m. to 7 p. m. and Sunday, August 22 from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. But, both days are $7 without the Friday re-admit.
So, Kendall Creek, do any of you plan on attending?

A Spectacular Friday the 13th
Posted on August 13, 2010 · Leave a CommentI often find myself wondering if the shows I watch on TV are true, you know like “A Haunting in Connecticut” and shows like that. They’re supposedly based on true stories and they always include the actually family that experienced the “haunting.” I guess there’s some validity in the stories, but what about an entire town being haunted?
Sally Toole and Will Aymerich have their own opinion on this and apparently a good one. They’ve written a book entitled “Souls of Norcross; A Railroad Town with an Afterlife” and their launch party is actual today Friday [August] the 13th! The event will be held at 45 South Café on South Peachtree Street in Historic Downtown Norcross. Refreshments will be served from 4PM until 8PM followed by a special Friday the 13th Ghost Tour. And a discount package of one book and one tour ticket is available for only $22.00!
This will be a surely spine-tingling event and a lot of fun! So, be sure to get there early; it’s only 8 minutes from Kendall Creek! You’re not scared are you?!
Chilling in the SunO
Posted on August 10, 2010 · Leave a CommentWith the weather being as blistering as it’s been the past few weeks and hitting above 90° for about seven days straight, water just isn’t doing it’s job any longer (well, it’s not refreshing at least). I need something more! And that’s when I turn to SunO. It’s a modest space located right of Jimmy Carter Blvd. that offers the best shaved ice treats this side of the Chattahoochee (I would have said Mississippi, but that might have been a bit far fetched).
Volcano! Brownie Overload! Banana Split! Mango Tango! These are just a few of the flavors they offer and they have loads more. Every time I walk in I almost feel overwhelmed by the selection, but no matter what I get I’m always satisfied!
And not only do they offer SunO Shaved Ice Treats, but Crepe Treats where they add, you guessed it, a crepe to the mix! And I can’t forget about their Wheel Pies, which are essentially custard filled shortcakes. Delicious. You will thank yourself for getting out in the sun and getting a SunO. Trust me, Kendall Creek. It’s only 10 minutes away!

Let’s Take a Canoe Trip!
Posted on August 4, 2010 · Leave a CommentGet ready to rip the wild waters (not too wild, though!) for a canoeing adventure! It’s happening at the Chattahoochee Nature Center this Friday (August 6) at 6:00 p.m. Before you take your trip, you will learn about the ecology of the Chattahoochee River.
Then, you’re off to the river! Everyone will get life jackets and other safety gear. I’ve never been, but I’m thinking about doing a day with some friends. It’s $30 per person, and if you’re a member it’s $25.
